"It would appear that..." is a hedge: it makes your statement tentative and polite, as if you have not checked every detail:
- "It would appear that the files were deleted by mistake."

Compare "It appears that..." (neutral observation) with "It would appear that..." (even more cautious and polite). Use it in professional correspondence and academic writing to avoid sounding certain when you are not.
How do I form it?

Common mistakes for Spanish speakers
Spanish "parecería que" maps directly, but speakers often add "that" where the infinitive is needed: "the company would appear that it is in trouble" — wrong. Choose one: "It would appear that the company is in trouble" OR "The company would appear to be in trouble". Also, do not use "would" when you mean "will": "would appear" is about the current impression, not the future.
