Present Simple

The present simple is used for habits, routines, and general facts.

Formation

Affirmative:

  • I/You/We/They + base verb
  • He/She/It + base verb + -s/-es

Examples:

  • I work from home.
  • She goes to university every day.
  • Water boils at 100°C.

When to Use

  1. Habits and routines

    • I drink coffee every morning.
    • They play tennis on Saturdays.
  2. General truths

    • The sun rises in the east.
    • Cats like milk.
  3. Permanent situations

    • She lives in Madrid.
